Open Air: DAS SOMMERBUCH

THE SUMMER BOOK, based on the popular novel by Tove Jansson, tells the story of nine-year-old Sophia, who must cope with a major upheaval in her life this summer, and her grandmother, who is nearing the end of her life.  Together with Sophia’s father, they spend time at the family’s summer house on a tiny, unspoiled archipelago island in the Gulf of Finland. They explore the island, talk about life, nature, and everything else—except for the death of Sophia’s mother and their love for one another.  As a summer storm rolls in, emotional wounds begin to heal and family bonds deepen. 

As part of Cine k’s Open-Air Summer Cinema—July 30 through August 30, 2026. Doors open 45 minutes before the film starts; the film begins at dusk. Weatherproof: no cancellations due to bad weather; the film will be shown indoors instead.
