Open Air: MARTY SUPREME

In the back alleys of Manhattan, Marty (Timothée Chalamet), a young shoe salesman, dreams of a future that’s a few sizes bigger than his uncle’s small shoe store. Driven by the dream of becoming a world champion in table tennis, he heads out every night to the city’s smoky competition halls, where—with plenty of talent, the necessary chutzpah, and the help of his best friend (Tyler Okonma)—he earns a few extra dollars. It’s not enough to finance a professional career or compete in tournaments in London, Paris, or Tokyo. So Marty casually “borrows” money from his uncle’s safe, lies to his mother (Fran Drescher) as well as his girlfriend (Odessa A’zion), and shamelessly throws himself at a Hollywood diva (Gwyneth Paltrow), whose husband (Kevin O’Leary) he also hopes to win over as a sponsor. But that’s just the beginning of the odyssey of a man who’s willing to risk everything for fame and success.

Based on the biography of legendary table tennis player and bon vivant Marty Reisman, director Josh Safie assembled an energetic ensemble cast for his first feature film without his brother Benny. Alongside Timothée Chalamet (DUNE), the cast includes Oscar® winner Gwyneth Paltrow, who makes her big-screen comeback here, “Shark Tank” icon Kevin O’Leary, THE NANNY star Fran Drescher, and Tyler Okonma (better known as Tyler, the Creator), as well as Odessa A’zion, granddaughter of filmmaker Percy Adlon, as Marty’s lover Rachel.

As part of Cine k’s Open-Air Summer Cinema—July 30 through August 30, 2026. Doors open 45 minutes before the film starts; the film begins at dusk. Rain or shine: no cancellations due to bad weather; the film will be shown indoors in such cases.
