Resurrection - Cannes 2025: Sonderpreis der Jury!

A man awakens in a world that feels both familiar and foreign. Memories surface like fragments of a dream: faces, places, voices—yet nothing seems fully tangible. In search of a lost past, he travels through landscapes and cities, encountering people with whom he is inexplicably connected. Some seem like shadows from a past life, others like harbingers from a distant future. Step by step, these encounters weave together a story of loss, love, and return. Yet every new clue leads deeper into a labyrinth of memories where truth and imagination are barely distinguishable. 

The film’s six segments, which correspond to the six senses of Buddhist thought—sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch, and mind—approach the story through various forms of perception. Like spaces of memory, these episodes unfold and guide viewers through a wide variety of cinematic worlds in a hypnotic stream of images. The protagonist’s journey through memory, perception, and time ultimately becomes a journey through the possibilities of cinema itself.
