SANAM, a sextet from Beirut's experimental art scene, moves at the transitions between song, ritual and freer forms. Invited by the Irtijal Festival to collaborate with Faust musician Hans Joachim Irmler, the band found its own maelstrom in this encounter. What follows is a wild maelstrom that transcends musical genres - cosmic rock and post-punk, free improvisation and electronic textures, Egyptian songs and modern Arabic poetry collide, rub against each other and ignite. Characterized by the high pressure that Lebanese society is under, SANAM sounds urgent and enraptured at the same time.
