Schalom & Alaaf. Jüdinnen & Juden im Kölner Karneval

Since the beginning of organized carnival in Cologne 200 years ago, Jews have been a part of it - in the hustle and bustle on the street and in the pub, in the club, on stage and in front of it.

Participation is contrasted by the exclusion of Jewish carnivalists. Under National Socialism, they were increasingly radically defamed, excluded and persecuted - few were able to escape. They took the carnival with them into exile.

The bilingual exhibition (German, English) "Schalom & Alaaf. Jüdinnen & Juden im Kölner Karneval" focuses on Jewish carnivalists for the first time and invites you to discover their stories - from a historical perspective, but also very close to the present.
