Selling Vivian Maier…?

It was one of the most spectacular discoveries in the world of photography: the photographs of Vivian Maier.

Vivian Maier documented life in New York and Chicago for years using her analog cameras. By chance, the negatives came to light after her death and became a sensation. In the documentary “Finding Vivian Maier,” John Maloof recounts how he came across the photos and tries to figure out who Vivian Maier was. But the documentary doesn’t just spark enthusiasm—it raises the question: Who owns a person’s work after their death, and how should it be handled? In short: Who owns the art?

Following the film screening, there will be a panel discussion with curator and media educator Teona Gogichaishvili.
