For the first time, the Jewish Chamber Orchestra Hamburg is a guest at SHALOM-MUSIK.KOELN - with a program that deliberately brings together opposites: Gustav Mahler meets Astor Piazzolla, Jewish sound tradition meets new compositions. Together with artist in residence Bar Zemach, the result is an intense concert evening full of energy, contrasts and surprising connections.

"Tikkun Olam" - the "repair of the world" - is a central principle in Judaism: the idea of taking responsibility through one's own actions and making change possible. It is precisely this idea that shapes the program. Music from different times and styles is brought into a new relationship with each other - as an artistic expression of courage, resilience and new beginnings.

The American composer has taken up the challenge and composed a new piece for shofar, piano and string orchestra especially for SHALOM-MUSIK.KOELN. In doing so, he explores the entire playing technique that Bar Zemach conjures up on the shofar.

A concert that brings together tradition and the present - and shows how music can open up new perspectives.
