Strassentauben Kollektiv: Fat Fucks
In the organizer's words:
About the event:
We're fat. Is that a problem for you?
Aaaaah, but no, you guys are totally beautiful!
Yeah, right. We’re beautiful, charismatic, smart, and sexy. And, well, fat.
The world is designed for thin bodies—that’s the norm. As soon as you’re fat, people start questioning whether you’re worth anything. We’re not a joke. We don’t have to—and don’t want to—hide our bodies or our fat. A body’s health isn’t determined solely by whether it’s fat or not, and even BMI stems from a system of oppression. Fat bodies aren’t bad bodies, and “fat” isn’t a bad word.
In “Fat Fucks,” Jordan Tanner, Linus Wirth, and Canan Venzky explore fatphobia as a form of discrimination and examine how it intersects with queerness, race, and classism. They share their own stories and connect them to historical and social factors. Together—and with the audience—they seek out moments of anger, grief, and joy, letting go of all expectations placed on their bodies.
About the Artists:
Jordan Tanner, Linus Wirth, and Canan Venzky are three artists based in Bremen. From youth theater to film productions, each has been active in Bremen for some time. With “Fat Fucks,” they brought their first collaborative work to the stage in 2025.
