Tim Garland Lighthouse Trio

For over twenty years, Tim Garland's Lighthouse Trio has stood like a beacon in the European jazz scene. The cone of light that the bandleader and saxophonist, pianist Gwilym Simcock and percussionist Asaf Sirkis constantly let swing covers stormy jazz waves and gentle folklore waves, touches classical realms and fusion terrain. Even if you close your eyes while listening, the music of the Lighthouse Trio will light you up.

The Grammy-winning Tim Garland is not only one of the most charismatic saxophonists in British and even European jazz, but has also rendered outstanding services as a composer. In his pieces, which range all the way to symphonic works, heart and mind make common cause, Garland gives free rein to his rich imagination, traditions and contemporary impressions come together. Apart from his own activities, Garland has played with Chick Corea, Bill Bruford, John Taylor, Kenny Wheeler and Ralph Towner.

It is hard to imagine the continental music scene without the qualities of his two fellow musicians. Pianist Gwilym Simcock and percussionist Asaf Sirkis have left their mark on European jazz with various solo projects and as sidemen.
