UNDEATH
In the organizer's words:
With an old-school death metal sound that has reminded fans of greats like Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, or Bolt Thrower, and a laid-back attitude that turns their live shows into full-blown death-metal parties,Undeathhave carved out a unique status within the metal scene. This fall, the band is coming to Germany for three concerts, where they’ll perform the groovy yet brutal metal sound of their three albums to date in an intimate club atmosphere at Munich’s Kranhalle, Berlin’s Mikropol, and Cologne’s MTC.
Undeathwas formed in 2018 in Rochester, New York, byKyle Beam(guitar),Alexander Jones(vocals),Tommy Wall(bass),Jared Welch(guitar), andMatt Browning(drums). That same year, they released their first two demos, which led to them signing with Prosthetic Records. In 2020,the band’s debut album, “Lesions of a Different Kind,” wasreleased. A distinct sound quickly emerged, combining the groove, technicality, and aggression of death metal. Their second album,*It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave,”released in 2022, earnedUndeathcritical acclaim from media outlets such as TheNeedleDrop, Metal Injection, Pitchfork, and Decibel Magazine, where the album—along with a cover feature—was listed as one of the 40 best of the year. In 2024,Undeathreleased their latest full-length album, “More Insane,” on which the musicians took their sonic brutality, complexity, and depravity to a new level, true to the album’s title. With a focus on a sound that’s even bigger, brighter, and clearer,“More Insane”was created with a clear vision. “The kind of album that doesn’t lose any of its clarity when you turn the volume all the way up,” says singerAlexander Jones. Pitchfork also noted that the band incorporated a newfound complexity and subtle flourishes into their old-school sound. Prime examples of this fresh take are songs like“Brandish the Blade,” “Disputatious Malignancy,”and“More Insane,” which once again demonstrateUndeath’sinimitable energy, their mosh pit-friendly hooks, and their hard-working ethos within their metal sound. In the summer of 2025,Undeathfollowed up with the double single“Enter Patient / Endless Graveyard,”diligently continuing on their chosen path toward developing a death metal sound that is both modern and earthy.
