In the organizer's words:
Sülz was a small farming village outside the walls of Cologne for centuries. Around 1845, the entrepreneur Heinrich Wagner had the first houses built in Ägidiusstraße for his workers, who increased his prosperity by extracting sand, gravel and clay. Small businesses settled in the quarter between Sülzburgstrasse and Ägidiusstrasse. As we walk through the district, we learn that the production of cars, bicycles, cigars, printing ink, licorice and washing machines was accompanied by an enormous influx of population. But there are also exciting stories to tell about interesting people and buildings, the birthplace of FC Köln is still standing and the Weißhausschlösschen can be admired through the fence. A walk through a lively district with a lot of history.
