In the organizer's words:
Elphaba and Glinda have fallen out and must now live with the consequences of their decisions. Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), now demonized as the Wicked Witch of the West, lives in exile in the woods, where she continues her fight for the freedom of the animals forced into silence. She desperately tries to uncover the truth about the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum). Meanwhile, Glinda (Ariana Grande) has become a shining symbol of good for all of Oz. She lives in the palace in the Emerald City and revels in the comforts of fame and prestige. On the instructions of Madame Akaber (Michelle Yeoh), Glinda serves as a dazzling comforter who is supposed to reassure the inhabitants of Oz that all is well under the Wizard's rule. Although Glinda's fame continues to grow, she still suffers from her separation from Elphaba. Although she tries to bring about a reconciliation between her and the wizard, the two friends only grow further apart. This not only affects Moq (Ethan Slater) and Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey), but also jeopardizes the safety of Elphaba's sister Nessarose (Marissa Bode) - and suddenly a girl from Kansas comes into the picture. When an angry mob rises up against the supposedly evil witch, Glinda and Elphaba must come together one last time... The consequences of decisions and how relationships can break or reform is the theme of this dazzlingly staged sequel, in which Erivo and Grande embody their roles with strength and depth. Technically, the film impresses with its opulent production design, strong musical moments and a flair for combining fantasy with more serious tones. Those familiar with the musical will know that the second act in particular tends to be darker - a worthy, visually stirring, atmospheric finale to a great cinematic musical journey with heart and magic.
