In his new book "God in the Word", Bochum-based New Testament scholar Klaus Wengst offers a "theology of the New Testament" as an "echo of the Jewish Bible". The execution of Jesus on a Roman cross left his followers speechless. Nevertheless, she was not at a loss for words. Above all, she had the texts of her Jewish Bible. She found words with which she could interpret the events surrounding Jesus. The texts of the New Testament develop from this. Wengst does not juxtapose the theologies of individual New Testament writings. In five chapters, he searches for a contextual connection. The question, indeed: the cry for justice and righteousness, proves to be the leitmotif throughout.
