With their unique blend of noise rock, hardcore, and post-punk, Young Widows have inspired a multitude of underground artists around the world. The Young Widows sound—or rather, the Young Widows vibe—is in full force on their fifth studio album. There’s nothing mysterious about the intensity of *Power Sucker*. The power trio from Louisville, Kentucky, plays their individual parts with such precision and style that each piece, once put together, becomes an integral part of the puzzle. The sizzling guitars, growling bass, and hard-hitting drums tear up the groundwork Young Widows previously laid, paving the way for the most forward-driving vocal arrangements of their now two-decade-long career. Beyond their historical achievements, *Power Sucker* possesses the shock and wonder of a new band’s debut album. After all, three passionate bon vivants have come together here to once again share their undying love for the art of sound. No one and nothing can take that power away from them.

For two decades, Liam Andrews has been deeply engaged with amplified music—both with the experimental post-punk group MY DISCO and as part of the duo EROS, alongside Karl O’Connor (Regis, Sandwell District) and Boris Wilsdorf (Einstürzende Neubauten).
His most recent work as AICHER focuses on reinterpreting ambient noise in spatial recordings. Within the framework of the atonal and monochromatic aesthetic to which he is drawn, and drawing on an extensive catalog of recorded
