Young Emma is lucky. She lives with the village pastor’s family and is learning to read and write from the pastor. She has just won the Virtue Award, which will enable her to pursue an education in the city. This apparent good fortune comes to an abrupt end when she is raped by a family friend. In the confines of the Protestant village, this means shame, guilt, and social ostracism. But Emma refuses to let the constraints of the community dictate her fate. She leaves her arranged marriage and her new family behind and moves to the city to build a self-determined future there with her child. While war rages at the border, she fights against shame and the expectations of others to forge her own path to freedom.

Edimotion – Festival for Film Editing and the Art of Montage 
Over four days, the 26th edition of Edimotion will highlight outstanding editing achievements and invite audiences to enjoy films and workshop discussions! The screenings will take place in the presence of the nominated editors, followed by a discussion about the films. Through its multifaceted and diverse program, Edimotion offers insight into the aesthetics and techniques of film editing, providing a vivid and concrete impression of what makes the magic of the editing room so special (Oct. 16–19).
