Artist Talk as part of the exhibition "Wilhelm Lehmbruck. Ewig menschlich" with Gintarė Sokelytė (artist of the contemporary position in the exhibition), Prof. Kathrin Röggla (Prof. for Literary Writing, KHM Cologne) and Dr. Katharina Rüppell (curator)
The talk will be held in English.
Gintarė Sokelytė's (* 1986, Lithuania) drawings, paintings, films and sculptures always refer to the human being as a being that is physically and psychologically determined by complex power structures. For the exhibition "Wilhelm Lehmbruck. Ewig menschlich" at the Kunstmuseum Moritzburg Halle (Saale), Sokelytė has created a sculptural intervention. In it, she refers to the works of the expressionist sculptor Wilhelm Lehmbruck (1881-1919), who was influenced by the First World War, and explores the highly topical question "What does it mean to be human in times of crisis?".
