Even 107 years after he took office as Mayor of Cologne, the traces of Konrad Adenauer are still visible everywhere in the city. He had a more lasting impact on Cologne's urban development than anyone else in this office. As Cologne's politician and Lord Mayor, the later Federal Chancellor set the course from which the city still benefits today. This cycle tour not only takes you through Lindenthal, Adenauer's home town at the time, but also shows examples of an urban development policy that was not only able to think big, but also implement it. The paths to implementation were not always conventional. And Adenauer also proved himself to be a master of Cologne's "Klüngel" in his private activities - something else that will be discussed on this tour. Stops include the Müngersdorf sports park, the outer green belt, parks in Sülz and Lindenthal, Adenauer's home in Max-Bruch-Straße and the Geißbockheim of 1.FC Köln, the future of which is still the subject of heated debate. Both opponents and supporters of the expansion plans refer in the debate to Adenauer, who had a Prussian fortress converted here for sports and leisure use.
