BRSO mit Sir Simon Rattle & Dame Imogen Cooper
In the organizer's words:
"Imogen is one of the greatest musicians England has produced. She is completely without showmanship," says Sir Simon Rattle about Dame Imogen Cooper. The artistic friendship between the BRSO principal conductor and the pianist goes back over five decades and is based on great mutual trust. Nevertheless, Cooper's Mozart will be anything but "effect-less": As an outstanding interpreter of his music, you can look forward to the late B flat major concerto - intimate and melancholically serene. The BRSO and three of its outstanding wind soloists then open up floating and colorful spheres with pieces by Henri Dutilleux. Haydn's C major Symphony, spiced with ironic wit, brings the evening to a festive and turbulent close - but only after the unexpectedly long general intermission.
