Genesis – BRSO mit Matthias Pintscher – BR musica viva
In the organizer's words:
New Works on Genesis
From creation to the primal forces of nature: Inspired by the first chapter of the biblical Book of Genesis, seven newly composed works by international composers explore light, life, and the creation of the world. In collaboration with the Kansas City Symphony and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Bayerischer Rundfunk’s musica viva commissioned this extraordinary cycle of compositions, which will be performed in Munich by the BRSO. A fitting opening: Milhaud’s*La Création du monde* overture.
The second half features Kaija Saariaho’s last completed work: the trumpet concerto *Hush* is a moving meditation on sound, silence, and transience. The program concludes with Jón Leifs’ monumental sonic vision *Geysir*, which transforms Iceland’s mighty eruptions into impressive orchestral music.
