On October 2, 2026, WATERBODIES—the first solo album by German-born, Brooklyn-based saxophonist, composer, and singer Charlotte Greve—will be released on New Amsterdam Records.
Produced by Shahzad Ismaily, the album blends jazz, classical, ambient, synth-pop, and experimental music into a personal soundscape. Contributors include the New York vocal ensemble KHORIKOS and the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra.
Although *WATERBODIES* is Greve’s tenth release, the album marks a new beginning: for the first time, her music is being released under her own name. Created during her pregnancy, it is her most personal work to date—a deliberate rejection of stylistic boundaries and a musical portrait of her diverse influences.
Hailed by The New York Times as “definitely her own artist,” Greve has also received international recognition from media outlets such as Pitchfork, MOJO, and The Wire. In addition to her work as a bandleader and solo artist, she regularly composes for ensembles and institutions such as Carnegie Hall.
“WATERBODIES is the most comprehensive expression of my musical interests. I wanted to create a space where different musical worlds can coexist—connected by my own voice.”
// Charlotte Greve (saxophone, vocals, synthesizer), Charlotte Jacobs (vocals, synthesizer), Simon Jermyn (bass), Mark Schilders (drums)
