Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up on board a spaceship - far away from Earth and without any memory of his identity or the reason for his mission. His memories return in fragments. He realizes that he is playing a central role in a race against time: A mysterious substance is threatening the sun and with it the survival of mankind.
