Film adaptation of the first volume of the Tolkien trilogy, in which hobbit Frodo sets off on the march towards Mordor to destroy the One Ring.
The young hobbit Frodo receives an extraordinary ring as a gift from his uncle Bilbo. Frodo learns from the wizard Gandalf that it is the mighty ring of the evil Sauron. To prevent his return to power, the ring must be destroyed in Sauron's realm of Mordor. Frodo sets off on the arduous journey, but his enemies are not far away.
