Multilingual poetry permeates the narrative of BURNING LIES and accompanies the protagonist on an inner journey. In search of a hidden part of herself, she questions the nature of her existence—caught between her innermost being and the reality of the other. In GARDIENNES DE NUIT, twenty-year-old Nora accompanies her grandmother’s body to Algeria. Once there, her family prevents her from attending the funeral. Kemi believes that her deaf daughter, Sola, can be healed through a ritual performed by a pastor. Torn between her son Yomi’s frustration, family pressure, and her own doubts, Kemi grapples in DELIVERANCE with questions of faith, tradition, and the complex nature of a mother’s love. A moment of weakness leads a young Muslim woman to buy a lottery ticket—a forbidden act. What initially seems like an opportunity develops into a profound spiritual crisis in HOW TO HIDE IT. In *WOMENLAND*, two young sisters in Minneapolis must navigate the tightrope between rebellion and their good reputation when their secret matchmaking business attracts a client who is dangerously close to their own circle. THE TRUTH ABOUT SPACE is about a young man who is released from prison and must confront the lie he told his daughter: that he had been in space. Before a massive solar eclipse occurs, an alien in ORION’S QUEST must complete its mission to understand love—by exploring the romantic relationships of Black gay men.
