Jan Olaf Rodt and Michael Bohn are both established names in the North German music scene. Together they are and have been active in many different formations and projects - in addition to their work in their own JMC trio and in pianist Conrad Schwenke's quartet, for example, as musicians in the band of the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" at the Oldenburg State Theater. Here they present a new duo program that captivates with its melodic and restrained approach to modern jazz. The sparse instrumentation of guitar and double bass gives the music a pleasant transparency and clarity. This intimacy and chamber-music approach becomes the flagship here.

The arrangements and compositions, which often make one think of two or three musicians when listening to the music, interweave melody, harmony, bass and rhythm in an artful and sensitive way to create a total work of art.

His virtuoso playing technique, which he uses on nylon and steel-string guitars in a variety of soundscapes, is not an end in itself, but serves the music, which covers the entire spectrum from pop to blues, from quiet ballads to groovy, driving Afrobeat, from swing to contemporary jazz. His playing is exciting and varied, emotional and full of energy.
