For many years now, songs by Hildegard Knef have been a recurring feature in the repertoire of the storyteller Alix Dudel. At the Tigerpalast in Frankfurt, accompanied by the Tigerpalast Varieté Orchestra; in her program “Too Late. But Who Cares?” with jazz guitar accompaniment by Sebastian Albert; or in the program “The Coffee’s Ready” with Thorsten Larbig on the grand piano.

She is supported, complemented, and wonderfully enhanced by Sebastian Albert’s arrangements and jazz guitar playing. In between, there are short readings—from the book *Der geschenkte Gaul*, from Hilde’s biography, and from her poetry collection. Listening to these two artists—Alix Dudel and Sebastian Albert—is a true pleasure.

Hildegard Knef was an incredibly versatile artist. During a difficult period, she initially began training as an illustrator, but dropped out to study acting; she then began singing, wrote her own song lyrics and poems, and went on to write a highly successful novel and other books. With a timbre all her own and an unmistakable charisma, she performed her songs for audiences both large and small.

Her lyrical song lyrics and the music composed for them by magnificent musicians (Charly Niessen, Hans Hammerschmidt) soon took on a life of their own and have been—and continue to be—reinterpreted and performed time and again.

Alix Dudel

is a storyteller, actress, and singer. Numerous texts by the writer Friedhelm Kändler received their world premiere through her interpretation. She has also developed musical-literary programs based on the poetry of Mascha Kaléko and Bertolt Brecht. Usually by her side: jazz guitarist Sebastian Albert.

Sebastian Albert

is a bassist and electric guitarist, composer, and arranger, and was formerly a member of the rock band Eaten by Sheiks. Under the name Gomez, he continues to perform in various studio and theater productions and also composes music for films and radio plays. In addition, he is a lecturer in Hamburg.
