We encounter far-right content on social media everywhere and at all times: It is designed to evoke certain emotions, sow confusion about established facts, or push the boundaries of what is acceptable to say further to the right. Using concrete examples, we’ll examine the various strategies: What visual language and word choices do we find in far-right content? What narratives are intended to be spread through it? And who actually creates and posts this content?

We’ll also examine what emotions this inhumane, anti-democratic content aims to trigger and how it ties into pop culture phenomena. The goal of the workshop is to help participants navigate social media in their daily lives with a more discerning eye.
