feeLit 2025: Maja Göpel

From June 29 to July 12, feeLit - International Literature Festival Heidelberg will be hosting its authors at halle02 for the first time. This new festival venue will be all about books and writing. This year, feeLit presents national and international literary stars and brings authors together with their audience.

Maja Göpel - Values. A compass for the future

Prof. Dr. Maja Göpel is a political economist, sustainability expert and transformation researcher. As a bestselling author, speaker and university lecturer, she combines science with social commitment. In 2019, she became an honorary professor at the University of Lüneburg. She is the founder of "Mission Wertvoll" and Managing Director of Global Eco Transition GmbH.

With curiosity and enthusiasm, Maja Göpel takes us on a journey to our values and their impact on society: where do they come from, which ones do we want to preserve, and which ones might even be blocking us? She shows how values can help us to courageously shape change and provide orientation in times of crisis. Freedom, for example, can be understood as an individual right or as social cohesion - with different consequences for our sense of justice. Monetary values influence our thinking about what is possible, while grades and likes influence our self-worth. Status and standing also reflect values, but not everything we collect is valuable. Göpel asks: How do we define wealth, how important is time together, and what does this mean for our future? Her answers invite us to think anew about the interplay of ethical, economic and social values - and to start a conversation about them.
