Doors open at 7:30 p.m. // Movie starts at 8:00 p.m. in case of bad weather (indoors) // Movie starts around 8:30 or 9:00 p.m. in case of good weather (outdoors) (after dark)
A beautiful summer evening, a cold drink in hand, and a good movie to go with it—what more could you want? But not all good movies are created equal—all too often, mainstream cinema presents us with clichéd gender roles, male heroes, and heterosexual relationship dramas on the big screen. While women often appear in passive supporting roles, queer characters and people of color get even less screen time. FINTA* people are underrepresented both in front of and behind the camera, and storytelling still mostly takes place from a white, cis-male perspective.
Our open-air cinema aims to break with stereotypical storytelling, spotlight self-determined protagonists, and reflect feminist perspectives. Whether it’s Hollywood, documentaries, or underground cinema—let our film selection at the zakk beer garden surprise you; everyone is welcome!
