Argentine fashion designer Lina accepts an award in Geneva—only to carelessly toss the prize into the trash shortly afterward and jump off a bridge into the water. Back in Buenos Aires with her husband Pedro and their five-year-old daughter Sofía, she develops a fear of water so severe that she can only allow her childhood friend Amalia to bathe her while she is under anesthesia. Added to this are hypersensitivity to noise and hallucinations, which create intense moments of terror. Lina’s journey ultimately takes her back into her own past—to a time when she still called herself Cata and was in contact with her mother.

Director Milagros Mumenthaler tells a story of psychological trauma and motherhood in an elliptical manner, without offering simple explanations, entirely from her character’s perspective.

Flingern-Lichtspiele

The summer open-air cinema in Flingern. In August, we screen a total of eight films every Thursday and Saturday on the terrace behind the building. Screenings begin after dark; doors open at 9:00 p.m. Folding chairs and lounge chairs are available, and there is a bar. In case of rain, we screen the films indoors.
