Johanna receives a surprise visit from her grandfather Kito from Tanzania—for the very first time. During a visit to a museum together, Kito discovers a mask that he believes was stolen from his home village during the colonial era. Shortly thereafter, a mysterious theft rocks the city: the valuable Makonde mask has disappeared from the Ethnological Museum. Kito comes under suspicion. Together with her athletic friend Sweta and tech-savvy Anton, Johanna begins to investigate on her own. The three uncover unexpected connections between the past and the present and embark on a turbulent journey that goes far beyond solving the mysterious case.
