MMU Online Debating Chamber: MUSCLES – Collections and Contention

The Metabolic Museum-University (MM-U) presents four debating chambers NERVES, BREATH, MUSCLES, BLOOD. Each Debating Chamber is hosted by members of MM-U and begins with a 7-minute visual and verbal provocation presented by a guest speaker, followed by a discussion and debate.

MUSCLES - Collections and Contention addresses the state of colonial archives today and works found in various art historical collections that spark controversy and fuel opinions, claims and counter-claims. What can be done to defuse the dispute over historical collections and what ways of "remediation" are proposed by artists, historians and cultural activists? The Debating Chamber begins with three 7-minute visual and verbal provocations, followed by a response or sabotage of these proposals, as well as a public debate.
