Extreme right-wing actors are increasingly succeeding in gaining access to the center of society and within democratic parties with anti-trans* narratives. These far-right narratives are no longer a marginal phenomenon and are now perceived as supposedly 'valid' arguments against the equal rights and social participation of trans* and non-binary people. The protection of women and children is also repeatedly instrumentalized. The result of this successful mobilization against equality and self-determination has devastating consequences, as the rising numbers of queer-hostile violence in Germany or the backlash in the USA or Great Britain show. It also encourages anti-Semitic, conspiracy ideology and anti-feminist movements.

With our guests Katrin Degen, Len Schmid and Eric BigCl!t, we talk about organized trans* and queer hostility, its dangers for the people concerned and democratic coexistence and point out possible strategies for action for different target groups.

The discussion is part of go drag! munichthe international drag festival celebrating female, trans* and non-binary artists from June 10 to 14, 2026.
