Sieg über die Sonne – Performance von Showcase Beat Le Mot mit Von Krahl Theater, Tallinn Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop, Maya Dunietz

Over 100 years ago, avant-garde artists dreamed of a radical art of the future with the opera “Victory Over the Sun.” But the 1913 premiere ended in scandal, and the piece was taken off the program after just one performance. Now, this long-lost work has been revived. Artists from Berlin, Tallinn, and Tel Aviv unleash a dazzling interplay of sound, movement, and light.

In 1913, Kazimir Malevich and a group of avant-garde artists sought to break with all traditions and conventions. Their futuristic opera “Victory Over the Sun” was intended to usher in a new era in art and society—and to provoke, with the dream of a universe without a center. Today, only fragments of this work remain.

The performance collective Showcase Beat Le Mot has launched a European collaboration to breathe new life into these fragments and explore both the old and the newest provocations. Together with their audience, they want to listen to the echoes of a future that was dreamed of in the past.
