TUKKI – DES RACINES AU BAYOU
In the organizer's words:
TUKKI – FROM THE ROOTS TO THE BAYOU
(Dir.: Alune Wade & Vincent Le Gal; Senegal/France/Ghana/Nigeria/USA 2025 | Original with English subtitles | DCP | 93 min.)
Senegalese jazz musician Alune Wade travels through Senegal, Nigeria, and Ghana, all the way to New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz. Along the way, he meets musicians, explores the connections between African musical traditions and jazz, and records a new album together with artists from West Africa and New Orleans. TUKKI brings together voices from both sides of the Atlantic and explores themes such as music, spirituality, cuisine, and cultural traditions. The documentary interweaves interviews with studio and concert footage. The music shapes the narrative and opens up new perspectives on the shared cultural roots of Africa and its diaspora.
