UNHEARD: Kravchenko Clees Duo

Voice and vibraphone—this combination is a rarity in jazz, but likely in other genres as well. Ukrainian singer Kateryna Kravchenko and Luxembourgish vibraphonist Arthur Clees engage in an intimate dialogue to create atmospheric, at times mysterious soundscapes and dreamlike landscapes inspired by poems from various authors.

On the album *Faces*, produced by saxophonist Wanja Slavin, the lyrics take on a new dimension through the music; Kateryna Kravchenko’s versatile and highly expressive voice imbues verses by Sara Teasdale, Marietta Holley, and Hermann Hesse with a magic all its own.

The music created through the collaboration of the Dresden-based duo Kateryna Kravchenko and Arthur Clees resonates long after the performance ends. Their album *Faces* depicts faces that morph and constantly take on new expressions. 

The Unheard series already enjoyed success at the Unterfahrt in 2019 and 2021 and will now continue this year with eight concerts in Hall 4 at Einstein Kultur. Developed as a project with the JazzStiftung München and curated by the Unterfahrt and mucjazz e.V. has made it its mission to provide a platform for promising young musicians from various competitions (including the Munich Jazz Prize) and to give them the attention they have long deserved.
