To bring the “Swing Manouche” series to a spectacular close, the Munich concert series is bringing an extraordinary European gathering to Einstein Kultur on December 12: The Maria Pascual & Hugo Guezbar Quartet blends the subtle elegance of Catalan vocal jazz with the deep-rooted tradition of Parisian Gypsy Swing.

Catalan singer Maria Pascual, one of the most exciting new voices on the European jazz scene, takes center stage for the evening. The ESMUC graduate captivates audiences with a timbre rich in nuances and marked by a deep, expressive sensitivity—a quality that earned her, among other accolades, the prestigious “Emerging Talent” award at the legendary Django Reinhardt Festival in Paris. Pascual’s impressive musical biography demonstrates just how versatile she is: In addition to intimate jazz projects (including collaborations with the celebrated pianist Ignasi Terraza), she has toured as a soloist with the Spanish pop-rock legend Jarabe de Palo and has dazzled audiences on major stages with the Veracruz Symphony Orchestra in Mexico.

At her side is French guitarist Hugo Guezbar, a true master of his craft. Guezbar has earned an outstanding reputation in France and far beyond for his sophisticated playing and his deep understanding of the Django Reinhardt tradition. His style combines absolute technical brilliance with a warm, elegant musical language and a contemporary lightness. He is just as sought-after in the Parisian Gypsy scene as an inspired soloist as he is as a sensitive accompanist.

This top-tier quartet is rounded out by the series’ perfectly cohesive foundation: The virtuoso Italian guitarist Giangiacomo Rosso brings his unmistakably spirited swing, while Munich-based bassist and cultural manager Julia Hornung, on double bass, provides the evening’s relentlessly driving groove with her usual stylistic confidence.
