Perhaps we should thank Jack White for bringing the spirit of blues rock into the modern age over the last 15 years, transmitting the meaning of one of rock music's oldest genres. White has paved the way for bands like The Kills, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Deap Vally. All of them fronted by charismatic women, celebrating the mix of garage, blues, fuzz rock and riot grrrl punk. An area where an exciting new band has recently parked their rusty van: Velvet Two Stripes.

Finally a European band ready to compete with the big boys of the scene, challenging the guys in their garage and proving that young women do have a feel for real blues. Their latest album "No Spell For Moving Water" was released on October 6, 2023 and was recorded in Vancouver, WA. Two luminaries of the rock scene are responsible for the right sound: Vance Powell (mixing, e.g. The White Stripes, Buddy Guy) and Pete Lyman (mastering, e.g. Tom Waits, Weezer).

What's next? Always moving forward, always on the move, as a trio. Sophie, Sara and Franca say: "The music remains the most important thing. We don't have to follow trends, we don't have to please anyone, just ourselves."



Valley of the Sluts from Leipzig take their audience on an emotional journey between melancholy, anger and concentrated energy. Their alternative style, which the band also likes to call Dramatic Bitch Metal , is defined by hard riffs, driving drums and spherical vocals, which sometimes spread delicately, sometimes powerfully across the carpet of sound.
Even the name makes a statement - the FLINTA* quartet plays with a kinky aesthetic and provocative themes, not without a wink. Since the end of 2022, 3 singles from demo recordings have been released, their debut album "Rise of the Slut" is currently in the works.
