In addition to the churches of St. Severin (1), the cathedral (2), St. Pantaleon (3) and St. Gereon (4) already presented in this lecture series, the Cologne church buildings presented here also have older building traditions. This may be an entire church excavation with numerous building phases, as in the case of St. Ursula, or only a few traces of construction from the early Middle Ages, as in the case of St. Maria im Kapitol. However, all the buildings belong to the surroundings of the praetorium, which continued to be used in the early Middle Ages.
