The Lower Rhine Chamber Orchestra of Moers invites you once again this year to its traditional Christmas concert on the third weekend of Advent.
The concert’s main works are, on the one hand, the famous “Winter” from Antonio Vivaldi’s *The Four Seasons*, which are part of a collection of violin concertos from 1725 in which the composer portrayed the seasons through programmatic music, and, on the other hand, the Suite in G Major by the British Romantic composer Christopher Wilson.
In his day, Wilson was known primarily for his theater music, but he was also very fond of chamber music. He structured his suite formally according to the tradition of the genre, but filled it with his own musical language; in addition to the classical movement designations of the suite, he also incorporated the romance and the scherzo, thereby creating a highly appealing chamber music work that, in some passages, is reminiscent of other famous Romantic suites or serenades.
The soloist is the young violinist Victor Wagener, a student of our concertmaster Ludmilla Chramkova.
