Abenteurer - Măcelaru & Strauss
In the organizer's words:
Enchanting moments define this special concert evening under the baton of Cristian Măcelaru, the former principal conductor of the WDR Symphony Orchestra. The program centers on Richard Strauss’s tone poem “Don Quixote.” Led by the cello and viola, the poetic soundscapes depict chivalric adventures that oscillate between irony and profundity. Anton Webern’s early “Passacaglia” combines late-Romantic passion with architectural clarity, while Richard Wagner’s rapturous prelude and the fiery “Liebestod” from the opera “Tristan und Isolde” captivate the audience time and time again.
