Marie Jacquot - Bruckners Sechste
In the organizer's words:
Marie Jacquot, principal conductor of the WDR Symphony Orchestra, has a special affinity for Bruckner’s music. This time, she focuses on his “cheekiest” symphony—as the composer himself called his Sixth. He was likely referring to the bold sonic explorations of this orchestral work, which, in addition to expansive outer movements, features a heartwarming Adagio—the emotional core of this symphony. World-class cellist Gautier Capuçon opens the concert evening with Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto—elegant melodies and masterful brilliance go hand in hand here.
