BR Chor: Aus der Tiefe
In the organizer's words:
For the Eastern Europeans Pärt, Górecki, and Schnittke, music is an inner sanctuary where stylistic, religious, and geographical boundaries are transcended. After composing the Requiem in memory of his mother, Schnittke was baptized. Pärt, too, found religion late in life and composed sacred music such as*De profundis*in the year he emigrated to the West. Górecki, on the other hand, was deeply rooted in his faith throughout his life. His*Miserere*is one of the classics of the genre.
