BR Chor: Sacred Concert
In the organizer's words:
Duke Ellington’s “most important thing”
“TheSacred Concertsare ‘the most important thing I’ve ever done,’” Duke Ellington once said—the father of the swing big band style and creator of cult classics like“It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing).” This statement can also serve as the motto for the BR Choir’s Ellington evening. The legendary hr Big Band will be performing, and Christian Elsässer, one of Europe’s leading jazz artists, will contribute a commissioned composition—an evening filled with spirituals, swing, and close harmony. Special guest: Broadway-trained tap dancer and musical theater performer Gaines Hall.
