BR Chor: Gesualdo, Fürst der Leidenschaft
In the organizer's words:
He was considered an oddball and an eccentric—in an eccentric milieu: The starting point for an evening centered on Gesualdo’s expressive, chromatic music is the artistic metropolis of Ferrara, in the year 1594. This is where everything came together; this is where they all were—Cipriano de Rore, Luzzasco Luzzaschi, Alfonso Fontanelli, and Carlo Gesualdo. At the court of the Este family, people debated, experimented, married, and made music—and from here they set out on journeys to seek out new musical ideas in Venice, Florence, or Rome. Join the BR Choir and Il Giardino Armonico on an extravagant journey through a vibrant musical era!
