David Groß: Tonnenweise Abenteuer - Waistcooking weltweit
In the organizer's words:
With a trash can as his kitchen and a Land Rover that runs on used cooking oil, chef, journalist, and filmmaker David Groß sets off on an extraordinary road trip across Europe. His idea: to cook with what others throw away and understand what lies behind it. In Berlin, he dances with misshapen vegetables at the Schnippeldisco; at the European Parliament, he cooks with buffet leftovers; in Bristol, old toast is turned into beer; and on a fishing boat in Brittany, bycatch is transformed into soup. What might be considered waste is transformed into surprising dishes and stories—humorous, relatable, and without a moralizing tone. The journey then takes him all the way to Japan, where he discovers a new mindset in the concept of “mottainai”: greater mindfulness toward food and resources. And along the way, the road trip turns into a love story. A visually captivating live show, awarded “Best Story” at the Discovery Days 2025.
