Japanese film series 2024:
12-year-old Mahito's mother is killed in an air raid on Tokyo in 1943. His father remarries and moves the family to the countryside. Mahito cannot come to terms with the new situation. By chance, he comes across a talking heron and a mysterious tower. Mahito begins to search for traces of his dead mother in a fantastic world.
"The Boy and the Heron" won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Film in January 2024 and the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film in March 2024.
