Einsteins Piano: Grégory Privat
In the organizer's words:
This concert in the “Einstein’s Piano” series will take place in Hall 4 at Einstein. Performing there as a solo pianist is a special artist—one who was initially trained in classical music but was also shaped by the dances and rhythms of his Caribbean homeland, Martinique, and who later developed a passion for jazz: Grégory Privat. His music masterfully blends all these influences and preferences; the French resident brings together rigor, vitality, openness, and the carefree lightness of being.
Grégory Privat had actually moved to Toulouse to study engineering. But alongside his studies, he worked part-time jobs and jammed as much as he could. He soon realized that the pull of music was stronger than the urge to pursue a technically oriented career. This realization would pay off for him. Grégory Privat was hired as a pianist with increasing frequency. Today, he is considered one of the most innovative forces on the French jazz scene. Privat has released a whole series of his own albums and has also enriched the music of Jacques Schwartz-Bart, Guillaume Perret, Lars Danielsson’s *Liberetto*, and Stéphane Guillaume. In 2023, he was honored with the Django Reinhardt Award.
