Drop-In Workshop for Children and Adults with Merle Richter

Inspired by Iván Argote’s “PRINT” series in the exhibition“A Place to Stay” atSpreepark Art Space, we’ll explore together how language can become sculpture.

In his works, Argote combines text, painting, and sculpture, creating playful connections between words, forms, architecture, and poetry. Using concrete, paint, and inscribed phrases, he creates reliefs that evoke the facades and walls of buildings while conveying messages that balance between political statements and declarations of love, blending the intimate and the poetic with a sense of community.

In the workshop, we’ll pour colored plaster over letters, shape them, and paint them—transforming words into small reliefs that bridge the worlds of writing, painting, and sculpture. What mark do you want to leave behind?

Merle Richter isan artist and art educator. Through careful observation and intensive reflection, she explores moments of interconnection between living beings that arise in their immediate surroundings. Her practice is characterized by conceptual, research-based, and performative approaches, as well as working with and through various materials, which she views as a collaborative process. Her educational work and experimental teaching practice aim to stimulate dialogue and discourse and to explore how “material” and installations using “material” can help initiate processes of aesthetic self-education.
