Summer 1990: a farm on the German-German border, which has recently ceased to exist. Maria, soon to be 19, lives with her boyfriend Johannes on his parents' farm. A time of social change and upheaval is in the air when she accidentally meets Henner, the farmer on the neighboring farm. One touch is enough to ignite an overwhelming passion between Maria and the unconventionally charismatic man twice her age.
This impressive film uses dreamlike images to tell the story of a secret love in the post-reunification period, which for some was the loss of a familiar life, for others the prospect of new opportunities. The film succeeds in capturing the time of social change and upheaval, as well as the passion of an unequal couple, in an impressive and sensual way on the screen. Based on the bestseller of the same name by Daniela Krien.
