J. Bernardt is releasing his new single “Four In The Morning” today via Play It Again Sam and is also announcing a European tour. The upbeat, melancholic pop song feels like a euphoric rush: rousing and captivating, driven by pulsating drums, expansive synthesizers, and sensual vocals. It is his first new release since 2024.

“Four In The Morning” reflects J. Bernardt’s evolution into an independent artist with his own vision and ambitious goals. Written and recorded at 64 Sound Studio in Los Angeles, the song showcases Jinte far removed from his usual routines. There, he collaborated with producer Paul Butler (Michael Kiwanuka, Devendra Banhart), whose unconventional approach fostered spontaneity and helped Jinte deliver his most liberated vocal performance to date. Butler’s infectious production style and the unbridled energy of Los Angeles shape the song from start to finish. The result is a track that retains J.Bernardt’s signature sound, only more playful and impetuous. He tells the story of someone who experiences a moment of clarity at four in the morning—whether drunk, sober, or somewhere in between is deliberately left open.

“The song grabbed me right away because it’s not the kind of song I usually write. It has this manic urgency that made me think, ‘Is something calling to you here?’ So I recorded it, probably because of the feeling of rebirth it gave me. Why not? I wanted to feel reborn. And that’s how it happened: a dancer in a sharp suit roaming through L.A. at four in the morning. I hope it turns out well for him.”

Jinte Deprez is also the lead singer of Balthazar, one of Belgium’s most renowned alternative rock bands. In more than two decades, they have sold over 600,000 albums worldwide.
